Naval Air Station Pensacola , Florida

Project Brief

Project Cost: $3,025,947.00

Completion: October 2011

Contract Method: Firm Fixed Price

This project involved major improvements to several of the electrical systems at NAS Pensacola. New 15kV pad-mounted transformers, primary switches, secondary service entrances, emergency generators, and transfer switches were installed at each of six existing buildings. The buildings involved included the runway and approach lighting vaults, two radio communications facilities, the fuel farm, and the GCA. On the airfield proper, the existing FLOLS vault transformers, runway edge lighting, and threshold lighting systems were upgraded. In addition, a new simulated carrier deck lighting system was provided on an existing runway.

The existing runway and approach lighting vaults were completely replaced with new precast concrete buildings. The runway lighting regulators were upgraded from 4160v input to 480v input, along with new airfield lighting controls. The transfer of all airfield lighting circuits and controls from the existing regulators to the new took less than 48 hours.
