Webb Electric Company successfully completed contract number W912BV-16-C0037 on May 24, 2019.  The project was a design/build project. The A/E on this project is Bath Engineering. The basis of award was “Best Value”, with Technical Approach being more important than price. After Notice to Proceed, the design process took about six months with onsite work beginning June of 2017. The work consists of upgrading and replacing existing overhead and underground portions of 15kv Circuit 6 at Sheppard AFB, TX. The circuit feeds the north portion of the base. Total length of the circuit is approximately six miles. The existing underground portions of Circuit 6 were replaced with new underground 15kV EPR/URD 1/3 neutral cables in existing ducts. The existing overhead portions of Circuit 6 were converted to underground by installation of new manholes, duct banks, 15kv pad mounted switches, pad mounted sectionalizing cabinets and pad mounted transformers. The work included installation of 18 pad mounted 15kv VFI switches, 28 pad mounted transformers, 30, 15kv pad mounted sectionalizing pedestals and 28 miles of 15kv cable. In addition, 90 LED streetlights and flood light fixtures and poles were provided to replace existing lighting systems. After all work was completed demolition included 150 wood poles and associated pole line construction. The final contract amount was $11,517,353.00.
