Description
This project consisted of the provision of the following:
- Installation of new 5kV outdoor metal clad switchgear
building. Work included removing existing main substation
in close coordination with Commonwealth Edison.
- Over 35 - 5kV circuits were transferred from the old
to the new switchgear.
- Extensive rework of underground manhole system and cabling
with new 6 W 5" and 4W 4" duct banks.
- Installation of over 20,000' 5kV primary cabling and
over 200 splices and terminations.
- Provided temporary power to keep power outages to a minimum.
- Coordination and safety were integral to this project
to keep critical life support systems intact.

Comments
Time extensions were a direct result of design changes and
additional work directed by the government via seven (7) changes
(Supplemental Agreements). The work included adding ground
wires, relocating feeders, tagging cables, providing metering
current transformers, removal of 4 trees, relocating fencing
and installing street light circuits. |
